76th Anniversary of D-Day Commemoration and WWII/D-Day Exhibit @ The Stonewall Brigade Museum
The 76th Anniversary of D-Day will be commemorated locally with two days of free activities this week at the Stonewall Brigade Museum in Verona, Va.
 The Museum tells the D-Day stories of the Shenandoah Valley and Virginia Citizen soldiers of the 116th Infantry Regiment who led the invasion force that landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy France on June 6th 1944.

Some unique D-Day items on display are the uniform worn by LTC Lawrence Meeks from Roanoke, VA, the D-Day Operations Order carried ashore by Staunton resident Major Thomas Howie, The Major of St. Lo; The Medal of Honor awarded to Sergeant Frank Peregory of Charlottesville, and a German rifle brought home by Sergeant Ralph Coffman of Mount Sydney.

The Stonewall Brigade Museum is free to enter, open to the public and located at 566 Lee Highway Virginia. The Museum will host these free activities on Friday and Saturday, 5 and 6 June 2019 from 10 am to 5 pm on , .

Visitors may also see restored and original antique military vehicles, military history interpreters in uniform, and many other exhibits highlighting other Virginian’s and the Regiment’s 279 year history of service. Food will be available for a minor cost on Saturday only.
